Our History
Our story begins in 1947 with the founding of Johnson Furniture Manufacturing Company by Grier Johnson Sr. in Conway, South Carolina. Originally focused on crafting furniture for local homeowners, the company’s direction shifted dramatically following Hurricane Hazel in 1954, which reshaped the Grand Strand and sparked rapid growth in the Myrtle Beach hospitality industry. As hotels and motels expanded along the coast, Johnson Furniture evolved to serve this new and growing market.
In 1970, Grier Johnson Jr. assumed leadership and relocated manufacturing operations to the Myrtle Beach area to better support hospitality clients. Under his guidance, the company refined its mission to focus on commercial-grade furniture engineered to withstand the heavy use of hotel environments, establishing a reputation for durability, reliability, and craftsmanship.
In 2025, the business was acquired by Cameron McLemore and David Quintanilla. Leveraging their backgrounds in supply chain management and lean manufacturing, they transformed the operation into a high-volume, highly efficient production facility, capable of producing approximately 50 sofas per week per shift. The company also expanded its capabilities to support large-scale reupholstery projects, as well as the production of custom drapery and cornices, providing turnkey solutions for guestroom and public-space renovations.
Today, we are proud to be a trusted supplier to multiple national hospitality brands, including Hilton, Marriott, Vacasa, and Vacatia. While our roots are firmly planted in Myrtle Beach, we have expanded our reach throughout the Southeastern United States and continue to grow beyond the region, with plans for further expansion in the years ahead.
